YES. You can only delete your account if you are UNVERIFIED. If this is not the case, then it requires a lot of effort and works with other people to achieve it. As long as they have an email address associated with the account, they will be able to sign back in at any time. On the same note, when metadata is edited or deleted, that’s what we use from Instagram – so there could be a way around deleting the photos on their end too. To make matters more complicated, while some pictures may be removed instantly in bulk under certain circumstances (for example: if they do not want your profile anymore), others must remain untouched for six months before they can be deleted.

How to delete one of your Instagram accounts or quit them
The only way to fully delete your account (and everything associated with it) is to make use of the Privacy Policy. You will need to send two things: your name and email address associated with the profile; and an additional statement of intent that you want to permanently delete your profile and everything associated with it. You must send this via postal mail, as there is no other method. Instagram will then assess your request (which has been known to take up to a year), check for any credible threats, and proceed accordingly. Even if they do accept the deletion of an account, in many cases data can still be retrieved by third parties through indirect methods like search engines . This may allow specific information to remain visible online; thus making it hard to delete entirely.
In some instances, deleting an Instagram account could be very quick. Accounts can disappear within 24 hours of submitting a request at certain times – others may take much longer to process. On top of this, once the admin reviews your request, they will send a confirmation email back which you must respond to within 48 hours.
The account is temporarily locked and cannot be used for any personal reasons. In some cases, it takes a bit longer to go through all comments or messages on your account first.
