Launch LINE on Android, go to Settings > Chats and tap Backup & Restore Chat History. Tap Google Drive from the list of options for how you want to backup your chats. Make sure that LINE is using a valid account under ‘Google Account’

It depends on how you deleted the chat history in LINE. If it was by clearing your cache, most of your chat history is saved there and can be recovered easily (unless you have used “Shift + Delete” to clear the browser’s cache directly). However, if you are sure that all of the data will be cleared from your device, then unfortunately it cannot be retrieved.

A: It depends on what implementation you used when sharing your chat.

If you shared your messages through:

1) “LINE official accounts”, please send a request to the account which you’ve sent the message to, and ask them to remove it from their LINE app. We also recommend that you lock your LINE app right away (sign out of all devices, delete all cookies etc.), so no one else will be able to view it or recover it anyway. However, keep in mind that even if you do lock your LINE app and/or device, this does not guarantee that someone can’t access your data at some point in the future – there are many ways people may be able to hack into someone’s device these days. So unfortunately we cannot promise complete protection for our users’ privacy.

2) “Explorer” (LINE for PC), in this case no one else will be able to view your conversation anymore because Explorer is only available through a personal computer. However, if you still want to remove the message from explorer itself, open explorer and click the small down arrow next to each message. I received a video in LINE but I deleted it by accident before watching it completely! There’s no trash bin for videos either so there was nowhere to recover this file even though I never finished watching it fully. Please tell me how I could recover it!

A: Well, you could try to play the video and let it buffer. When the video has finished buffering but is interrupted by Line app before completely playing (due to low memory), there will be an option of “RESTORE” or “RESTART”. If you tap RESTORE, your file will be restored from its cache.

However, if LINE app was fully shut down while in this state beforehand, your file can no longer be recovered using this method because the cache has been cleared. Please note that LINE does not provide a Trash Bin for videos either. Restoring lost files So if you still want to restore such a video with us despite knowing that there’s pretty much nothing we could do about it, please send us your video’s original file name and the exact time/date you saw it for a few seconds (and it was interrupted before finishing).
