If you are linked to a checking or savings account, your Withdrawals will not trigger any ATM/debit card or ACH overdraft fees from your bank. Some banks, however, charge an additional fee for incoming e-checks (or dynamic reload), so make sure to check with your bank if you have questions. If you do not have a linked account and manually enter an external US Bank Account number (e.g., your personal checking account at another financial institution) when requesting a withdrawal, it is possible that there may be some delays in getting access to funds depending on how that bank processes these types of withdrawals. Can I lose money by using Cash App?
Cash App is a digital wallet similar to Venmo, Coinbase Wallet or other online/mobile wallets. You can only send funds that you have already added into the app (e.g., as bitcoin). If you do not have any bitcoin held in your Cash App, then you cannot send it. For this reason, we recommend holding only what you’re willing to lose in the app itself and keeping your remaining holdings in a different location outside of Cash App. The same applies when sending money out of Cash App: make sure there are sufficient funds available to completely cover the amount being sent out before initiating the transfer.

The reason that you have to enter an amount when requesting money is because only people who know you already (e.g., friends) will be able to see your requests. If you don’t include an amount then it will show up as “Unnamed” in their notifications and they won’t know who initiated it or how much it’s for!

Cash App charges no fees for sending or receiving money with other users in the US. However, when sending bitcoin to an external Bitcoin address it is possible that there may be some delays depending on how blockchain.info processes these types of withdrawals (for this reason, we recommend using Coinbase as your external wallet provider). Currently, our internal support team verifies all new banking accounts manually and so they do take a few days to fully process! Once you have submitted your information, it will then show up under the “Bank Accounts” section of your app. If you are waiting on a pending balance to be added to your account, it may take up to 48 hours for your bank to sync the information with Cash App’s servers.
