If you have something like 100 GB of data stored in Google Photos (you monster), then those multiple steps will be beyond annoying, especially when contrasted with another solution.<\/p>\n<p>Since the nature of cloud storage is always changing, it\u2019s hard (if not impossible) to say what the future holds for Google Photos down the line. The company could very well decide one day that it no longer wants to provide unlimited cloud storage for free \u2014 so if you want your photos and videos safe long-term, then it\u2019s a good idea to store them elsewhere.<\/p>\n<p>And there are other concerns that might plague users as well. For example, storing everything in the cloud means that Google could theoretically access that data anytime it wants, which is something some people may be uncomfortable with. We\u2019ve reached out to the company for official comment on its plans for the future of Google Photos, but have yet to hear back at this time. Update: The PR rep did get back to us saying \u201cGoogle Photos offers an easy way to back up and share all your photos and videos \u2014 and we don\u2019t charge for storage.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As for Google Photos itself, the service is a good way to share photos and videos with friends, but may not be best suited for everyday storage. If you want full control over your data (or use another cloud storage service), then there are other options available that offer more flexibility.
