When you deregister your Kindle, it will no longer be connected to your Amazon account. This means that all of the ebooks you downloaded from this device will no longer be seen by others when they try to search for them on their Kindles. Your ebooks are still on Amazon–at Welcome, just log into your account and head to Manage Content and Devices. From there, download any new purchases or previously read books onto any computer-connected Kindle device.

1. Step 1: Tap the “Menu” button, and select “Settings” to enter Settings page.
2. Step 2: Choose “Registration.”
3. Step 3: Select the Kindle you want to deregister, then tap Unregister this device. Then your Kindle will be removed from your Amazon account permanently. Is this all? Hope not! It may take a few minutes for you to get confirmation that registration has been ended up successfully. The screen displays as below after completing the degisnregistration operation. Remember, if you don’t have any accesses to Amazon services (e-Books or shopping), please reregister them via Amazon website on computer or use other devices with Internet access such as Kindle Fire HDX 8.9″ to reregister.

Other operations of deregistering all Kindles:

Step 1: Tap Menu -> Settings -> Registration -> Deregister All Devices. Then all the registered devices will be removed from the saved list on both the Amazon site and the device’s settings page. Remember that you can always register them back again.

Note: All the content and settings on your device will be lost after deregistering it, including personal documents or eBooks purchased from Kindle Store (please note that you can download them again via computer). If you want to retain these files, please back up your device first.

Step 2: Tap Menu -> Settings -> Registration -> Deregister [Device Name]. Then only one of the registered devices will be removed from the saved list on both the Amazon site and the device’s settings page. Notes:

1) If you are not an Amazon Prime member, please ensure that any downloaded eBooks from Kindle Store during the registration period can be put onto other devices or apps; if not, please consider keeping your content on Kindle rather than deregistering it.

2) Please note that if you want to buy eBooks available only for US customers, you need to register the device which is located in the United States. Kindles registered in China cannot download them directly (please note that this article will explain how to solve this problem). 3) If you have several Kindles, please note that all of them are removed from your Kindle account in a single deregistration operation. You can know which registered Chinese Kindle is the last one by doing as below:

Step 1: Get to device’s settings -> registration -> information; remember the order of added addresses.

Step 2: Tap Menu -> Settings -> Registration -> Deregister All Devices. Then all Kindles will be removed from the saved list on both the Amazon site and the device’s settings page.

Step 3: Connect your first Kindle to PC using a USB cable and check “My devices”. The screen displays as below after completing the degisnregistration operation showing that there is no devices registered on Amazon after deregistration successfully.

Step 4: Connect your second Kindle to PC using a USB cable and check “My devices”. The screen displays as below after completing the degisnregistration operation showing that there is only one device left registered on Amazon after deregistration successfully, which is the last one added to Amazon (please note that if you don’t have registration information in the above “device’s settings -> registration -> information” (including order of added addresses), please carry out this step by trial).

Step 5: Now if you want to use your Kindle again, just keep it registered on Amazon; otherwise unregister it by connecting it again to the computer and do as steps 2-4 above.

Note that registration information is kept in “device settings -> registration”: if you change the order of devices (just like change 1st to 3rd) by connecting them into PC again and make sure the number of connected Kindle shows up in “my devices” (screen displays as below); then it’s OK. How Can I Stop or Cancel Kindle Subscription?

If you have subscribed Amazon Prime plan, the best way to stop being charged a monthly $10 fee is deregistering your device from the Amazon.com site and unplugging it from the computer. Then you will never be billed by just simply leaving it in a corner of the cupboard after finished reading each book. However, there are two reasons why I still recommend that people subscribe to this service:

1) If you want to switch between multiple devices (PCs/tablets/mobile phones); please keep at least one registered Kindle for future use because only one out of all Kindles can be used on one single device at once as explained above; 2) If you want to read eBooks from Kindle cloud, you can only access them from Kindles. For other eReaders or mobile phones, please install the Kindle application on your mobile phone to read Kindle cloud eBooks (if you don’t have proper applications for reading Kindle books, we highly recommend our free software – MobiWL OTP).

In some cases, if a Prime subscription is not deregistered from the device before upgrading the firmware of this device via computer; it cannot be used until deregistered again and the firmware is upgraded without a complete registration process after the firmware upgrade. Basically, Amazon will close the account automatically once a month unless a purchase has been made in that particular month. You may also encounter times when you might forget being subscribed to Prime service and start seeing monthly charges appearing on credit card statements which you may find hard to account for.

For users who wish to extricate themselves from the clutches of Amazon Prime in this manner, unregistering your device via computer is simple enough. Simply plug in your Kindle and access http://www.amazon.com/manageyourkindles, log into your account (either with an existing email address or using your mobile phone number), and on the Registered Kindle tab click Deregister next to the Kindle you’d like to remove from your account (or select multiple Kindles by checking adjacent boxes).
