If you have a Google account, then your contacts are automatically backed up. In fact, Google will back them up as long as it can find an internet connection and there is enough storage space on the device. If you’ve been using Gmail for a while, then chances are that most of your important information has been synced to the cloud at least once already.
If you don’t want to use a backup from Google or if it’s not available, you can try restoring from iTunes or iCloud instead. Keep in mind that if these backups were created after the issue with Google happened, they may not fix the problem because something could have changed since then such as new contact entries or changes in how those new contacts sync their information.
Or you can just try to manually enter your contacts back into the phone by either searching others in your phone book or by copying and pasting them from a spreadsheet on your computer.

Your contacts should now be restored. Open the Contacts app on your Android phone or tablet. Tap Menu in the upper left corner. Choose a label from the list to see contacts by that name. Select a different account from the drop-down menu. To remove the Google Contacts app, go to Settings > Accounts and select your Google account. Look for Contacts under Account synchronization and turn on the toggle next to it. Now, if you turned on this setting when it was already on, turn it off and then back on again.
If the missing contacts are from before the 30-day period stated above or if you don’t have access to a PC, you may always restore previous contact backups on your Android phone. To do this, go to Settings and choose Google. Tap Set up and restore at the bottom of the screen. Choose that option then pick Restore contacts from the drop-down menu.
