As described in my tell-all post, I used to be an active member of IMVU. It was a really fun program to join and unlike most other social media programs, it forces you to be creative and think of original ideas with the scripts provided, or else you can’t upload outfits. There were people that did great jobs at customizing accessories and mixing them up into one piece of clothing; but eventually, everyone runs out of items or becomes bored with only having 10 pieces of clothes. So when new items are released onto the market via buying credits/buying cash (money left over from paying for your account), it’s like Christmas! Everyone rushes over to get their hands on something no matter how much money they spent, just as a new way to expand their wardrobe or update an item they already have.
And that’s what happened to me. I had my account for about 2 years and I was continuously paying for credits, which in the end it added up into a hefty amount of money. In fact, I didn’t realize how much I’ve spent until recently when I downloaded a file to see how much money/credits I’ve used (I had deleted my IMVU due to one reason) and it resulted in two different files: One was the actual program and another was all the purchases made with the rest of them being zeros inside them meaning everything is gone! When this happened, my heart dropped because I lost almost everything – outfits, hair/face colors, everything. I decided that one file was the actual IMVU program and the other must have been my purchases throughout the years so I deleted all of it.
So after deleting my account, I made 2 new accounts and tried to get back into the swing of things again but they were just so tedious that there wasn’t much fun anymore. Instead of having a lot to work with, usually, it’s only 10 pieces of clothing for your avatar when using 15-20 slots (head/face, hair 1-5, body 1-3). Now you’re stuck with only 3 bodies and 3 faces/heads to work with which is such a downer because people pay credits or cash in order to make an outfit or change their looks. I decided to delete that 2nd account as well because it was all downhill from there.
It’s a shame how IMVU is now, especially when you’re on their site you’ll notice a lot of people (or bots) selling the newest clothes and stuff for credits or cash with outrageously high prices. And usually, what happens next are reports are being posted about someone stealing other users’ ideas, so they end up deleting their accounts since all their hard work went to waste anyway. Some people still manage to make nice outfits regardless of this problem but either way, it’s just not worth trying anymore.

If you choose to delete your IMVU account, you are provided with an email notification to your specified email address and asked to confirm the deletion. Once you confirm, all of your data will be permanently deleted from the platform along with every interaction that has taken place on it.
Reasons for IMVU account disabled Your account can get locked after entering the wrong passwords too often. If someone else gets access and requests for the account to be deleted, your account could also get disabled. Execution of Terms in Service may lead to the disablement of your Account.
You can ask for help in our IMVU Support Center. Choose General Support as the category, and then select Disabled Account as the General Topic. Make sure to include your avatar name and the very first email address (the one you used to sign up).
There is no option for temporarily disabling IMVU accounts. Users are given two options: keep it open or delete it completely.
