You’re correct that one tick indicates that the message has been transmitted, and two indicates that the message has been read. If there is only one tick after reading the message, it means that the other person hasn’t received it.
It’s conceivable that you have an unregistered account if you’re unable to log in and request a password, but nothing appears. This is because you posted Gumtree advertising without first creating an account (in which case you may manage your advertising using the confirmation email we sent).
To cancel your Gumtree account, use the mobile or desktop web browser. You’ll lose all of your saved settings and won’t be able to access that account again if you deactivate it. To reactivate the account, provide the same information as before.
To respond to the individual who posted an Ad, type your email address and a note in the “Contact poster by email” area on the right side of the page. You’ll also need to supply the verification code (which aids us in preventing SPAM replies).
The double tick indicates that the message was delivered to the person who you texted. A single tick shows that the message has been delivered to the server but not to the individual whom you contacted.
