The first thing that you need to do when deleting an old Hotmail account is go into the settings of your current one and change the email address associated with your Microsoft ID. Once you’ve done this, make sure that there are no emails left in your inbox from the old account before proceeding. Make sure also that any contacts stored on your phone are updated accordingly as well.
You will then need to go into your web browser and navigate to the Hotmail page. If you’re using Windows 8, Hotmail is integrated with the mail app. To get to it, simply swipe from the right of your screen or select it from your Windows 8 apps list.
