1. On your Mac, choose Apple menu.
2. Click To System Preferences.
3. Click Profiles.
4. If you haven’t installed any configuration profiles, Profiles preferences isn’t available.
5. Select a profile in the Profiles list.
6. Click the Remove button.

There are some cases when you would like to delete a profile from your Mac but it does not allow that. This could happen for various reasons, the most common case is when the profile that you want to delete has administrator permissions and thus cannot be deleted by regular means. In this article I will show how you can get rid of such profiles without formatting your Mac and without any third party software/application.

Step 1: The first thing that you need to do is go ahead and boot into Single User Mode, in order to do so restart your machine while holding down CMD+S . Doing so should display a line with “loginwindow” on it if you have not set up a password with (system) if you set a password to your account you will instead be greeted with a prompt for it.

Step 2: Type in the following command and press enter: mount -uw /

Step 3: Now type in the next command and press enter chflags -R nouchg,nouappnd,noreval ./ This is deleting all hidden files that are located within your user profile. You will know when this process is done when there is no more activity on your Terminal screen. If you see any errors during this step then something went wrong and I suggest trying again from Step 1 (just make sure you do not have Single User mode enabled)

Step 4: Reboot your Mac normally by typing reboot and pressing enter. Once you have rebooted you will notice that the profile in question is now gone.

That’s it! This process should delete any hidden files and folders within your profiles for which there is no other way to delete them, I must note this method does not affect your system files in anyway so don’t worry about that. Step 5: The first thing we do here is tell the computer to mount the “UW” drive (User Directory, U being short for User). Next, we use chflags to change some flags on all user directories (if they have any) such as hiding all of their files and making them undeletable. The chflags command is followed by a list of flags which tells the system what to do, in this case we want it to hide all the files (nouchg), ignore any errors that could happen (nouappnd) and not to re-evaluate anything (noreval). If you look at the image below then you will see exactly how this flag will affect your user profile.

Step 6: Now that we’ve changed these flags on all user directories it’s time to delete everything inside them. Did I mention there was no going back after this point? In our next step we are simply telling the system to delete anything within that specific directory (/Users/yourname) that is not hidden (nouchg). In this case we want to delete everything within the “Users” directory, so this flag makes your system do just that.

Step 7: Last but not least we tell the computer to actually carry out these commands by making it reboot itself normally (reboot). Once you restart, the profile in question should be gone forever! If for some reason all of this does not work then I suggest you try using Safe Mode and make sure Single User mode is enabled before going through with step 5 again.
